Commercial license for your 3D models

Short answer

Every model you make on HI3D.cc after buying credits or subscribing is licensed for commercial use: sell prints, put it in games, apps, films and ads, show it on product pages, deliver it to clients. No attribution is needed and there is no revenue share. Models made only with the 40 free sign-up credits are for personal use.

Which license a model has

The model was made withLicense
Credits from a pack, or a Pro or Studio planCommercial use
A preview made with the free sign-up credits, then finished in 4K with purchased creditsCommercial use for the finished model
Only the free sign-up creditsPersonal use (a shape preview to look at; it can't be downloaded)

The license is fixed when the model is made and shown in the download panel next to each model. Cancelling a plan later doesn't change it.

What you can do with a commercially licensed model

  • Sell 3D prints of it, in any quantity.
  • Use it in games, apps, AR experiences, films, animations and advertising.
  • Show it on websites and product pages, including in AR.
  • Change it: sculpt, repaint, retopologise, rig, combine it with other work.
  • Deliver it to a client as part of paid work; they can use it for the same purposes.
  • Sell the model files themselves, where the marketplace allows AI-generated models.

What stays your responsibility

  • Having the rights to the photos and images you upload.
  • Getting consent from anyone whose likeness you model before you use it commercially.
  • Not copying characters, logos, product designs or other work you don't own the rights to.
  • Following the rules of any marketplace or platform you publish on, including AI-content labels.
  • Checking the model before relying on it: sizes, fit and structural strength are yours to verify.

Ownership and copyright

We claim no ownership of the models you make. As between you and us, they're yours, subject to the terms. Two limits come from outside us. First, copyright in shapes generated entirely by AI is weak or absent in many countries, including the United States, so you may not be able to stop others from copying a raw AI model; what you add yourself is another matter (our guide explains it, with sources). Second, models aren't exclusive: someone else with a similar photo can get a similar model.

When the license ends

  • If the payment for the credits used is refunded or charged back, the commercial license for the models made with those credits ends.
  • If an account is closed for breaking the terms, for example by uploading images without the rights to them.

Nothing else ends it: not cancelling a plan, not deleting your account after you've downloaded your files, and not us changing prices later.

Proof of license

Your invoice (from checkout or from Invoices and billing in your account) shows the purchase, and the download panel shows each model's license. If a client or a marketplace needs written confirmation, email hello@hi3d.cc with the model and the account email.

The binding version of these rules is in the terms of service; this page explains it in plain English and doesn't change it.
